Concept
Two hundred years ago the Maltese people lived humbly, most of them as peasants. However, when it came to organize a wedding, they always made their utmost to show their generous hospitality. During the Folklore Wedding night, we shall experience a traditional wedding ceremony followed by a humble-style reception, typical of those traditional times.
Description
The set-up is a complete traditional remembrance of times long gone but not forgotten. Long banqueting tables with a white tablecloth and a small long candle as a center piece. In the middle of the hall, a small stage, with an altar upon it, for the actual wedding ceremony.
The priest and the altar boy, along they the mayor and his wife, are awaiting the guests at the main entrance of the venue. As the guests arrive, they are greeted by the mayor and his wife, and in the meantime await outside for the horse and carriage escorting the bride and the groom.
As the soon-to-be newly weds arrive, they are all welcomed by six folk characters and a couple of folk musicians to perform the Ribbon welcome (a sign of good wish in the Maltese traditional culture). They mayor and his wife greet the guests as they enter the venue.
Everyone is settled in the wedding ceremony area, for the ceremony to begin. After a short, but traditional ceremony the reception commences.
