In the Lap of the Gods!

Concept

A set of costume accessories - toga and roping - is distributed in each hotel room so that guests dress up for the occasion! Crowned by flower-rings and spirits drenched by the 'potion of the gods', guests are ready to spend the night in good company of Zeus, ruler of the gods. This is where the other gods intervene by dispatching their favoured offspring to amuse hosts and guests alike with tricks and talent.

Description

The centerpiece at the welcome area focuses on a large bowl, containing a wine-based punch, arranged with empty cups and assortment of fruit, Stationed nearby, costumed serving staff is ready to tend to the guests' needs - some to fill cups and others equipped for hand-rinsing purposes.

The dining hall is decorated with white draping. Free-standing urns are arranged with all the necessary decorations and props, the abode of 'the ruler of gods' is the focal point. This is where two guardians, as gong and timpani players, together with the harp and flute players await the arrival of the divine and the earthlings.

Clad in togas, guests are crowned with flower-rings by maidens before entering the welcome area. Assisted by the serving staff, guests satiate their spirits from the 'potion of the gods' as they indulge themselves to punch and fruit.

Announced by fanfares played by the 'guardians of the realm', the messenger of the gods makes his appearance. Hermes invites guests to dinner.

Guests settle around tables, Hermes and guardians around the abode of the master. The maidens wait near the entrance for Zeus.

Zeus hails all warm greetings and declares the banquet open. Throughout the evening, the maidens tend to their master's needs, whilst the harp and flute players soothe him. From time to time, the timpani and gong sound for Hermes to announce an activity, being it the presentation of a dish or an entertainment spot. This is where the gods pay tribute to their ruler and his guests.

First to be called in is the son of Athena, the goddess of arts and crafts. Throughout the evening, the sculptor meticulously builds the facial features of Zeus out of a clay slab.

Hephaestus, the blacksmith of the gods and the god of fire, offers his two sons to demonstrate their skills in domesticating the sword and the fire. One playfully balances swords and swallows them. The other caresses his body with naked flames until he eats them. Using their body language, the maidens give their fari share to add more drama to the thrill of the acts.

Once tables are cleared from the main course, comes the gift of the god of war. Ares sends his two sons - equal in his eyes, equal in their valour. Ares takes the opportunity to solve his dilemma. The two bold warriors need to win favour from Zeus to be declared as heirs to their father's divine legacy. But Zeus, in all his wisdom, leaves it in the hands of the earthlings (the guests) to seal the wrestlers faith with their 'thumbs up - thumbs down'.

After and once the atmosphere is well warm towards boiling point, the DJ sets the pace for dancing.
