Carnival Activities
Re-enactment for the 16th Century showing how the Grandmaster used to declare
by means of delegates to the opening of Carnival Festivities and
regulations governing the behaviour of the Jollymakers during Carnival. The
programme includes the traditional Parata dance, comedy sketches , folk
singing and the traditional game of Kukkanja. The Kukkanja is a kind of
vertical assault course shaped rather like a Christmas Tree and hung with
prizes. The best prize of all goes to the man who can reach the top of the
pole and release the Carnival flag erected on top.

1st Night of Carnival

A full programme of dancing competitions including the Triumphal entry of
the king Carnival float and two companies of float.

Children's Carnival
A Carnival spectacle by the Maltese Children including a Carnival defile.
Dancing Competitions and Gran Defile
Massed Band Carnival Parade in Hamrun
A new activity with the participation of carnival bands including foreign
bands, grotesque masks and King Carnival float.
Carnival by Night Street Party

Last Night of Carnival

A full programme of dancing competitions including the Triumphal entry of
the King Carnival float and defile.
Gran Defile
A spectacle of all Carnival floats participating in Malta Carnival.
GRAN FINALE
The last Carnival night when all the floats and dancing companies are shown
to the general public during a night of merriment which includes fireworks
display.
