Valletta History & Art

Valletta…a city built by gentlemen for gentlemen…the fortified capital city of Malta…one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world…is irrevocably linked to the historical and artistic heritage of the military and charitable order of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem.

The Valletta History & Art Guided Tour takes visitors, step-by-step, through the cultural and artistic heritage of the Maltese Islands, referred to by Winston Churchill as the islands of 'romance and history'. You will not only visit the places where the fate of Europe, and especially Malta, we decided but also see some works of enormous artistic value from both Maltese and foreign artists, such as Mattia Preti.

Our guided tour, through the bustling streets of Valletta, will first allow you to view the Barracca Gardens that command a breath-taking panorama of the Grand Harbour, followed by the St John's Co-Cathedral, adorned in riches that date back to the Knights of Malta. After, you will visit the Grandmaster's Palace to take a peek at the lifestyle of some of the most influencing past rulers of Malta.

Finally, you will be astounded by a great display of art, ranging from Medieval Italian work through Maltese modern art, at the National Museum of Fine Arts.
