The Knights of St John

The Knights of St John Guided Tour is designed to help you understand and relive the most important period of these islands' history - that of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem.

On the one part you will walk through the exciting and adventurous story of the Knights of Malta, from their foundation by the Blessed Gerard in 1099 to the present day. Join the pilgrims, in the early twelfth century, traveling from Jaffa to Jerusalem, meet Grand Master Jean Parisot de La Vallette in his imperial tent, travel with the Knights to Malta and watch the Knights and the Maltese people heroically fight one of the largest galleons of the Turkish Armada under the command of Emperor Suleiman.

Leaving Malta with the Knights under the searching gaze of Napoleon Bonaparte, you will then tour the lived-in home of a 16th century Maltese noble family, Casa Rocca Piccola. This visit is a testimony to the grand architectural design of the fortified city of Valletta and its palaces, to which the Knights dedicated the most part of their resources and efforts after the Great Siege.
